Programme Overview

This programme equips graduates to teach competently in primary schools throughout the region and contribute to the holistic development of children. It provides sequential studies in educational, curricular and religious/philosophical disciplines. Graduates will be able to teach in classrooms, lead in schools and resource other professionals.

Effectively apply a variety of educational concepts and theories in the diverse environment of the school and classroom.
Creatively apply psychology, counselling and leadership concepts to support student learning and behaviour management.
Demonstrate competency in creatively using appropriate pedagogies across the primary school curriculum.
Integrate the philosophy of holistic education throughout the curriculum, including values education.
Utilise ethical research methods and appropriate communication skills in presentations and publications.
Demonstrate a healthy lifestyle which contributes to personal and community health.

Attendance

A minimum of 80% attendance is required per module (90% for students on academic probation). Students missing more than 20% of a module may be required to withdraw. Absences may only be considered up to a maximum of 33% in exceptional circumstances with supporting documentation (e.g., medical certificate).

360 credits — 72 at Level 7 or higher
Three practicum completions (Pre-requisite, Lower Primary, Upper Primary)
Co-curricular: Computer Skills, Literacy, Numeracy, Conversational Vernacular (Fijian/Hindi)
